Try These Amazing Tips for Healthy Bright Eyes

If you are having red, dry eyes with constant irritation, chances are there is something wrong. The eyes are the most sensitive organ in the body, and their care should be the top priority. If you don’t take care of your eyes, they will lose their natural sparkle and eventually your eyesight will be affected.

And not only does the inside of your eyes matter but the skin around your eyes equally important. If you have puffy eyes or dark circles around them, then your eyes will look tired and unhealthy. 

So here’s how you can take extra care of your eyes.

  1. Avoid dry air

Desert climates or areas with high altitudes can dry out the moisture in your eyes. Even the atmosphere in aeroplanes can get dry for your eyes. Avoid areas where there is wind, smoke or dust as it can get in your eyes along with other harmful substances in the air. If the moisture in your eyes gets dry, they become patchy, irritated and can become scratchy and red. So, carry hydrating eye drops with you at all times in case you are going to a dry place.

  1. Put green tea bags on eyelids

If you have swollen, puffy or irritated eyes, place green tea bags on your eyelids for 5-10 minutes and you will immediately feel a difference. This is the best remedy for tired, swollen eyes. The polyphenol in green tea acts as an anti-inflammatory agent and also have antioxidants that help restore the cells in your cornea.

  1. Consume omega fatty acids

To keep your eyes healthy and well-hydrated, try to consume more omega-3 fatty acids in your diet. Rich sources of omega fatty acids are:

  • mackerel
  • sardines
  • salmon
  • chia seeds
  • flax seeds
  • walnuts

You can order fatty acids in the form of supplements from an internet pharmacy and take them regularly if you don’t have access to these omega-rich foods.

  1. Try using rose water

According to Ayurvedic experts, rose water can be an effective remedy for various eye conditions due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Apply a few drops of rose water to your eyes with the help of an eyedropper. Or you can dab a cotton ball soaked in rose water on your eyelids to reduce puffiness and swelling. 

  1. Use cucumbers on eyes

Cucumbers have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Cucumbers also contain vitamin C which is good for tired, puffy eyes. You can cut two cucumber slices and apply a slice to each eyelid for 15 minutes, you will immediately feel your eyes refreshed and calm.

  1. Drink plenty of water

Drinking water is not only best for your overall health but great for your eyes as well. Drink at least eight glasses of water daily to ensure your body has enough moisture to keep your eyes hydrated and well-lubricated. Install an alkaline water dispenser in your home or office as it has many health benefits.
